1. Acting employment is short-term employment of a current employee in a position of a higher classification due to the absence of another employee.

2. Acting employment in a position of higher classification is authorized by the Director for a specified time period of not less than one month.

3. An employee shall not achieve regular employment status in the higher classification. Upon termination of the acting employment, the employee shall resume his/her regular position, employee benefits and salary, including salary step and benefit increments which may have accrued.
