MEET THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
PATRICIA SKOMARS is Board Vice Chairperson. Patricia and her husband moved four years ago to property that they have owned outside of Chewelah since 1989. A native Minnesotan, raised in a small town on Lake Superior, Patricia has three grown daughters and several grandchildren. With her husband she has moved around the country and lived overseas for a time. She has worked in banking and operated a B&B, and she has volunteered in the past for a hospital auxiliary and as a school board member. Her hobbies include quilting, golfing, gardening, and baking. Patricia notes that in all many locations where she has lived, including Berlin Germany, she has always used the local library. Patricia was appointed to replace a Board member who resigned. BILL SWARTZ is a hydrology technician. He was previously a member of the Onion Creek School Board, as well as Recreation Program Coordinator for TRICO, and Executive Director of the Stevens County Council for Children. Term ends December 31, 2009. board-at-scrld.org
JEFF JURGENSEN is Board Chairman. He is a Project Manager for a National Program/Construction Management Company. He is a Certified Project Management Professional and 1 of 4 Certified Professional Estimators in the Pacific Northwest. He has a B.S. in Construction Management and a B.A. in Finance from Washington State University. He and his family moved back to the Spokane area in 1999 and then to Suncrest area in 2000. Having the library as such an influential and positive experience while growing up, he will work very hard as an advocate of the SCRLD to insure that the children and families of Stevens County will have the same opportunity to make the library a positive aspect in their lives.
