Morgan Park History Program
This photo was printed in the Spokesman Review on July 30, 1905 as part of a story about the newsboy's picnic at Morgan Park. One part of the article said this: "At 2 o'clock the order was given for all the boys who were dressed to board the large launch, the Gwen, for a trip around the lake. Not many of them were dressed at the time, but in the interval required to untie the boat, a crowd of them had poured over the side with wet bathing suits dripping beneath their outer clothes. As soon as the boys were well aboard, trouble began for the directors. Most of them insisted in hanging over the edge in varying degrees from merely standing up to suspending themselves by their heels."
This photograph was later made into postcards.
