Morgan Park History Program
It wasn't all fun and games at the resort, there was much work to be done. In the early 1900s, citizens of the county were required to pay a road poll tax to help maintain the county's developing road system. This payment could be in the form of cash or labor. On October 21, 1901, Evan received this certificate which states: "I do certify, that Evan Morgan has performed two days work upon the public roads in Road District 13, in the month of October, amounting to the sum of Four Dollars, in full payment of his Road Poll Tax for the year 1901."
