"Loon Lake is one of the most delightful and picturesque spots in the West, and yet with all it's beauty, it is in close communication with the city. The Spokane Falls & Northern Railway runs along its shore, and the ride by rail is but forty miles from Spokane. It is the safest of all the mountain lakes in this country, being so well sheltered that heavy squalls are unknown. The surrounding mountains are covered with superb forests of pine, fir and tamarack, and through the long summer days the air becomes charged with the balsam of these forests.
