Morgan Park History Program
Evan Morgan loved the trees. His camping rules included: "Don't cut growing trees, no matter how small. If you want small trees for shade, the expressman will bring them for you. Don't drive nails in the trees; it kills them. If you wish to fasten anything to a tree, lash it with rope or wire. Don't build bonfires too near trees; the heat from the fire kills them. Always put out your bonfires before retiring. Don't mutilate or chop the bark on trees; it makes them unsightly and kills them. We value the care of trees above all else."
