The resort was then operated by Neil and Hazel McDermut until it was subdivided. Neil had just retired from the Shell Oil Company. He came to Loon Lake to get things settled after Evan's death, then went back to California for the winter to pack up and prepare to move to the lake. In the spring, they settled in and ran the resort.
